Karen reviews the Sweet Iron ‘PopTop’

Overall the design, fit and comfort of this shirt make it a real winner.

Sweet Iron Co is a new player in the equestrian clothing scene. They claim to be 'an affordable edgy style of riding apparel' and we were asked to review their signature shirt, The PopTop.

The PopTop is a clinic and competition shirt that can convert from a polo shirt to a ratcatcher by popping up the collar. It's also printed with tiny little skulls  - which the streetwear side of me absolutely loves!

 The fit & feel:

It's seriously flattering!
The material is incredibly soft and lightweight so it was very comfortable to ride in! No sweating, clinging at all and it was still super soft to wear even after a wash.
The extra length was fantastic to tuck into breeches, no annoying puffy bits at the top of your pants. Also the shirt didn't move at all when I was riding, feeding up or mucking out.

Skulls? Seriously...

The polkadot pattern was super cute and the little skulls are very on trend at the moment.
I was expecting the dots to be horse related images so the skulls were something different.  The navy faux pocket adds a nice touch matching with the sleeve cuffs, although I generally get disappointed by fake pockets.

Where they lost me....

So I loved the shirt, however here's where they kinda lost me... they seem like they are really trying to market themselves as a company listening to the equestrian community "it's too expensive" was quoted on the site.
The shirts are advertised at $65 which to me is just the same as all the expensive shirts in all the other equestrian retailers.  I think marketing around the $50 sounds much better price wise for the buyer. (**more on that below 👇)
However, they have made a lovely, unique product!
(P.S. Since I wrote this review.. they've reduced the price.. how good is that!!)

Wait, what? These shirts are now $49?

Well that's more like it 😉

We've just had word from the gals at Sweet Iron that their bulk order of shirts have arrived.

That means they're now just $49

Available in sizes 6 - 20 in Navy and White - you can check out the shirts here.
